How to use this website
The information presented appears under a series of five major headings: Census, People, Places, Colliery and Military. Single-clicking any of these will take the reader to a list of topics. Then, single clicking (or tapping) any topic heading will open an article which provides information appropriate to that subject. Most of these articles are illustrated with photographs or maps and it may be helpful, in many cases, to enlarge these by using the appropriate zoom function. To return to the list of headings simply click the ‘Back’ symbol. To return to the ‘Home’ page click the ‘Cotgrave History’ icon. |

The website has been developed as a result of collaboration between the former Cotgrave Local History Society and members from Cotgrave & district U3A History group.
Material is drawn from a range of sources including a number of Archives together with contributions of memories, photographs and articles given by local residents (past and present). A complete list of acknowledgements is appended below however particular mention needs to be made to Malcolm Baxter and Paul Childs who instigated the foundations of the project so that future generations could access this ever expanding source of knowledge and understanding about Cotgrave heritage. For the research and writing of many of the articles a huge debt of gratitude is due to John Orton who has made significant contributions to the website. We would also like to thank Steve Cockbill for his contribution to the digitising of the National Census returns for Cotgrave (1841-1911). The design of the website is due to the enthusiasm and hard work of John Haskell and Paul Childs in compiling the presented material and thanks go to them both. We hope that the website will continue to be an expanding development of material researched and also donated by present and former residents of Cotgrave wherever they may be.
